Kelly and Becca’s passion for sharing Let’s Talk About “IT’, stems from Kelly’s experience with sexual assault while in college, it’s impact on their lives, the trauma of the resulting pregnancy and the critical role their friendship played in the recovery process. Unlike any other program on the topic of sexual violence Kelly and Becca use humor to both inform and inspire. Using their signature three step model, they teach participants how they can help reduce sexual violence. Armed with their personal experience, expertise and unique ability to relate to each member of the audience this program treats both men and women as allies while focusing on the importance of communication, bystander prevention, personal responsibility and supporting survivors. Using sexual empowerment as their platform they decode the toxic language surrounding sex and offer innovative ways to address alcohol, sex under the influence and date rape drugs.

Always upbeat their emphasis is on acknowledging that students are not the problem but the solution. Learn how you can be a part of the solution and leave with the tools to make your community a safer place. You will laugh, you will be inspired and you will know how to leave your campus better than you found “IT”!

One Student co-founder Becca Tieder (@youbexbelieve) is not living the life she imagined. In college she had one clear goal: to become the next Howard Stern. But life does not always work out as planned. Sometimes you find your calling where you least expect it. Following the rape of her best and dearest friend, they worked together to create solutions to help transform campuses and communities by starting conversations in new and innovative ways and putting tools in the hands of stakeholders.
Becca has traveled the nation addressing sexual assault, rape culture and gender norms. After speaking to over one million people, Becca has seen the ripple effect that follows honest conversations about sexual assault, sex and relationships that are void of shame. In this stirring session Becca will introduce some of the top conversation starters that encourage people to open up and see new opportunities to address sexual assault in a way that truly engages the communities we serve.
We all have a role to play in creating a #consentculture and creating sexually empowered communities. From porn to purity rings there is tremendous pressure on people to meet sexual ideals. It’s time to have frank discussions about issues that may get in the way of expressing our own sexpectations and creating a #consentculture, so we can help others. This session encourages positive, open and honest conversations about sexual health to help create healthier relationships, engaged bystanders  and communities that support survivors of sexual assault.

Sexual Empowerment: Creating a Cultural Shift

How to engage in positive on-going conversations about sex, sexual health, body confidence, respect and consent with people of all ages.

Check out the full Sexual Empowerment: Creating a Cultural Shift description

There is a lot of debate on the need for sex education, but the problem is, everyone is fighting about all the wrong things. We need to learn healthy sexuality such as practicing safe sex, understanding consent and coercion, and talking about our bodies in a positive way. However, many parents can’t teach this, because they don’t practice healthy sexuality themselves. This program is not just about intercourse, it’s about teaching true body confidence and respect along with medically accurate sex education for people of all ages, and especially our children, because early education is key. Until people feel good about themselves and about sex, kids will continue to be afraid to talk with their parents about sex, which can lead to having sex before they are ready– or perhaps not being able to tell a trusting adult about an experience with sexual abuse or assault. Keeping positive conversations going about sex, including the risks and responsibilities, we can help the younger crew grow up safer and sexually empowered and teach adults a thing or two while we’re at it. #sexversations

You Are the One Screening

Kelly & Becca are available for limited speaking engagements or electronic speaking engagements in conjunction with a screening of the documentary. They will discuss their path to becoming activists, how students can create social change, share some outtakes from the film and introduce some of the tools and resources in the film’s educational tool kit.

Check out the full You Are the One description

This powerful documentary explores sexual assault awareness and sexual empowerment on college campuses through the work of two amazing activists and the strong connections they’ve made during their travels throughout the United States. While in college, Kelly Addington and Becca Tieder endured a personal experience with sexual assault that forever changed their lives and sent them on an extraordinary journey to help build communities with zero tolerance for sexual violence. Filmmaker Barbara Rosenthal turns the camera on Kelly and Becca’s personal story—now a public mission to help viewers see their own potential to create social change and address the epidemic of sexual violence. Through interviews with change agents and thought leaders the film shows the role everyone can play in reducing violence. “You Are the One” is rich with honest emotion but it’s the warmth and humor of these two extraordinary women that make this film so engaging. Pack your bags and join them on the journey to learn how you can be the one.
